Manini Prefabbricati Creates the First Private Earthquake Simulator for Prefabricated Structures in Europe
The leading company in industrial prefabrication is the first to equip itself with a system capable of reproducing the effects of an extremely severe earthquake to test different types of joints between prefabricated elements at a 1:1 scale.
Manini Prefabbricati continues its growth in the realm of Industry 4.0, continuing to invest in innovation and research. The creation of a 1:1 scale earthquake simulator at the Bastia Umbra (PG) facility lays the foundation for further acceleration of the company’s activities both in Italy and abroad.
“In this way, we are creating a building that,” explains Eng. Leonardo Casali, Technical Director of Manini Prefabbricati, “is able to withstand multiple seismic events without suffering damage and without the need for heavy restoration interventions.”
The simulator can be used with different types of prefabricated structures to test their resistance to various telluric stresses and provide useful information to guide innovation in a sector that is experiencing an extremely important evolutionary phase.
“Exporting our prefabricated structures abroad is complex. Our know-how and technology, however, are absolutely exportable,” states Eng. Boccolini, CEO of Manini Prefabbricati. “For this reason, we are looking at European countries in the Mediterranean area, historically afflicted by seismic criticalities, including the Balkan area, Greece, and the Iberian peninsula.”
