Urban Forestation by Manini Prefabbricati

The topic of urban forestation is hot and certainly of great relevance for those who care about a green urban planning approach and beautiful, sustainable urban architecture.

Manini Prefabbricati is responsive to the Call to Action launched by Stefano Boeri Architetti Studio on the occasion of the first World Forum on Urban Forests promoted by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), which was held from November 28, 2018 to December 1, 2018 in Italy, in Mantua, to promote integrated projects and initiatives in this direction.

Talking about Urban Forestation means fighting pollution and overheating, starting from cities, to counter climate change.

By 2030, 60% of the world’s population will live in those same cities that already consume 75% of natural resources and are responsible for over 70% of global CO₂ emissions. The cumulative emissions of CO₂, along with those of methane and other greenhouse gases, cause global warming of the planet, which is responsible for the melting of glaciers, loss of biodiversity, and the increasing rise in ocean levels.

Urban forestation can and must become a priority in Government agendas and stimulate a rich community made up of architects, urban planners, botanists, agronomists, arborists, landscape designers, technicians, real estate operators, representatives of local institutions and civil society, Universities and Research Centers to promote urban green projects such as

urban parks and gardens that redesign the roofs of city buildings, transform boundary walls into green facades and unused courtyards into urban oases,

green corridors and horizontal or vertical forests, such as tree-lined avenues that restore oxygen or actual forests “belting” city centers or developed vertically on architectures that become unique like those developed in Milan by Studio Boeri

Even in this area, Manini Prefabbricati wants to play a distinctive role that is inherent in its history, its values, and its continuously pioneering and visionary approach. Manini technicians have developed software that is able to scientifically “weigh” the CO₂ emissions related to the realization of one of our prefabricated buildings on the hosting territory.

We are working on the realization of urban forestation projects capable of compensating, in whole or in part, the CO₂ produced with that absorbed by the new greenery.
