The R&D Department of Manini Prefabbricati Hosts the Advanced Phase of Studies on Biocement

The Research Development laboratory of Manini Prefabbricati is hosting the advanced phase of experimentation, as part of a project involving Manini Prefabbricati as the protagonist of a development team that also includes the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, the multinational BASF, and the Spanish company Escofet, specializing in prefabricated urban furniture.

The research carried out by the team has already made it possible to identify the plant species most suitable for combined use with bio-concrete, while preserving the workability and mechanical resistance characteristics of the concrete with a view to industrial application.

The characteristics that make bio-concrete suitable for creating industrial structures

Bio-concrete has high porosity, which allows for rapid water drainage and ensures optimal development of the plant component.
Bio-concrete also has high mechanical strength, which allows for handling and subsequent fixing during industrial processing
